How to Play

Play Zombie Plague online for free. Zombie Plague is a tower defense game where you control a shooter atop a wall shooting as many zombies as you can. Pick up coins to unlock upgrades to your shooting speed, power, accuracy and ammo storage capacity. Fight through wave after wave of zombies. How many levels can you beat? This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Select the gold and yellow play button on the game’s welcome screen.
- If you have not played before this will start you off on level 1.
- If you have played before and did not lose all your lives you will continue where you left off.
- Your web browser automatically saves your game progress including current score, beat levels, purchased weapon upgrades, and all time high score.
- The welcome screen has a sound control button in the upper right corner.
- Along the bottom of the welcome screen there are 3 buttons for game developer information, medals earned, and play more games.
- Game Controls
  - Desktop
    - Use your mouse to aim & the mouse left click button to shoot.
    - As enemies move you can keep adjusting your shot to keep shooting them.
    - Left click on the reload button when it appears.
    - Touchscreen devices
      - Tap on the screen to aim & shoot, or to adjust your aim.
      - Controls & indicators
        
        Across the top of the level screen it shows how many bullets you have loaded, your cumulative total game score, and there is a pause button in the upper right corner.
        
        In the lower left corner your remaining lives are shown & in the lower right corner it shows your current level number.
        
        Game Play

        Aim
        If the zombie is close to the middle you will not need to change your aim much (if at all) since they are running straight at you.
        If zombies are near the left or right edge you will need to frequently adjust your aim and lead zombies.
        Most zombies run straight down, but a few run side to side. If the zombies running side to side have other zombies behind them you can aim for the midpoint of the path and shoot a variety of zombies. If the side to side runners do not have others directly behind them you can follow back and forth with your shooting.
        Order
        Typically it makes sense to shoot the zombies nearest the bottom before they exit then work your way up the field. If you are overwhelmed with zombies you can skip one or two and start working on zombies further up the level to regroup.
        In general it makes sense to take out the size zombies first when you have a nearly full magazine & focus more on the middle area after your magazine is low so your aim stays true when you reload.
        If you are overwhelmed with zombies it can make sense to shoot the ones that take the fewest hit points to destroy while ignoring ones that take many shots to destroy.
        If you see the ninja zombies appear you have to shoot them quickly because if you do not do so they will almost certainly escape by the time you try to get to them later.
        Dying
        You start the game with 20 lives.
        Each zombie which makes it to the bottom of the screen costs you one of your lives.
        If you lose 8 lives on the first level then you will start the second level with 12 lives.
        When you run out of lives it is game over & you start back at the first level.
        Cheesy unlimited continues tip: Officially this game does not offer continues, however if you reload your browser in the middle of battle you will start the current level again with 20 lives. If you lose a lot of lives on a level, or are about to lose your last life on another level, you can refresh your web browser to start the current level with 20 lives – though you must do so before losing your last life.
        Reloading
        You start the game with bullets. If you fully upgrade your ammo you start each level with 70. When you run out of ammo you have to click the reload button in the center of the screen to reload your weapon.
        When you run out of bullets you do not immediately reload. You must click on a button on the center of the screen to reload.
        When you have full bullets try to shoot the side enemies & save those toward the middle for near the end of your magazine so that you automatically click on the reload button when you are firing.
        Enemies
        Initially there are only a few different types of zombies you face, though as you progress through the game there becomes a wide variety of zombies which are differentiated along the following dimensions
        speed
        hit points
        movement path
        point value
        coins dropped
        When any enemy gets past your defenses it costs you a single life, no matter how weak or strong the zombie is.
        Points
        Each zombie you destroy is worth points, with most ranging from 10 to 40 points each.
        Harder to destroy zombies are typically worth more points.
        Your game score is cumulative across levels.
        Coins & upgrades
        Zombies you destroy leave coins on the ground, which you can pick up by shooting.
        You can upgrade your damage, fire rate, ammo and shot accuracy 6 times each. The cost for upgrades are as follows.
        Damage: 6, 12, 18, 22, 26, 32.
        Fire rate: 4, 12, 20, 24, 28, 34,.
        Ammo: 9, 14, 16, 24, 28, 34.
        Accuracy: 9, 14, 20, 24, 28, 32.
        I tended to view damage and fire rate as more important than ammo or accuracy, however after doing a number of upgrades on the first two it can make sense to spend leftover coins on doing at least the first couple rounds of upgrades on the other two.
        
        Achievements
        
        This game has 10 medals you can unlock.
        
        Collect 10 & 50 coins.
        
        Defeat 1, 20, 40, and 60 enemies.
        
        Beat 3, 6, 9 and all levels.
        
        Beating the game
        
        The game shows you completed it after beating 14 levels, but you can keep playing past level 20 so long as you have lives remaining and can keep up with the waves of incoming zombies.
        
        Target Audience
        
        The game is suited for players who like base defense shooter games.
        
        The game has no adult themed content.
