  • Starting the Game
    • Click the go button on the game loading screen.
    • Click the start button on the game welcome screen.
      • The welcome screen also has buttons for viewing your snowball fight high scores and sharing the game on Twitter or Facebook. Your web browser automatically stores your high score information.
      • There is also an overall high score list for all players, but we disabled that feature so all your gameplay data is stored locally.
      • The game has 20 levels which you can play through sequentially. If you lose on a level you can retry it an unlimited number of times, but if you start the game over again you start back on level 1.
      • Game Controls
        • Desktop
          • Click on the Smurfs as they enter the screen.
          • When there are not any Smurfs on the screen or you are almost out of snowballs you can restock snowballs by clicking on the box in the lower right corner.
            • On touchscreen devices you use your finger like a mouse.
            • Game Play
              • The game interface has a stopwatch in the upper left corner which tells you how much time you have left in the level.
                • When you are nearly out of time the whole clock turns red to send a warning.
                • The pause button is adjacent to the stopwatch.
                • The upper right corner has the number of remaining Smurfs you must hit to clear the level.
                • The lower left corner has your score, which is cumulative across levels.
                • The lower right corner shows how many snowballs you have remaining.
                  • You can fill this at any time (even if it is partially full) by clicking in this area.
                  • Unfortunately when it is refilling you are unable to throw snowballs for a second.
                  • Some of the Smurfs which pop up close to you near the bottom of the screen throw snowballs at you.
                  • Snowball Fight Champion Strategy
                    • Scoring points
                      • Smurfette is worth 20 points.
                      • Gargamel is worth 30 points.
                      • Azrael is worth 40 points. Hitting the Smurf which Azrael is chasing costs you 10 points.
                      • Nearby Smurfs which are not moving are typically worth 5 points each and Smurfs go up to 30 points for moving ones in the far off distance.
                      • The sledding Smurf is worth 50 points.
                      • You can hit Gargamel, Azrael and Smurfette even after you reached your goals with them so you keep adding to your score.
                      • If other Smurfs hit you with a snowball that costs you 10 points.
                      • Beating levels
                        • Initially the game shows a number of Smurfs you must hit in the upper right corner. As you hit Smurfs this number declines.
                        • As you advance through the levels it shifts from showing a singular goal number to a variety of them.
                          • Blue = Smurfs
                          • Yellow = Smurfette & after you have reached your Smurfette goal hitting her more times counts as regular Smurf hits while retaining her 20 points value per hit.
                          • Evil looking character – Gargamel near the left tree.
                          • Orange cat = Gargamel’s cat Azrael.
                          • Smurf on a sled = a sledding Smurf. This character is much harder to hit than the other Smurfs are as it:
                            • moves fast
                            • changes vertical plane
                            • is in the far off distance
                            • enters from behind a house about 1/3 the way into the screen on the right
                            • is shielded by the large Christmas tree when it gets through about 1/3 of the level
                            • is sometimes blocked by other Smurfs which run in front of your shot
                              • The level ends when you hit the specified number of Smurfs (and other stated goals).
                                • If there are multiple hit goals you must satisfy all of them to advance.
                                • Boosting your point total.
                                  • If you are going for the highest score and find the level easy then you can aim primarily at Smurfs off in the distance as distant Smurfs are worth more points.
                                  • If you have a lot of time left and only need to hit 1 or 2 regular Smurfs you can keep hitting Gargamel and Azrael to rack up your point total.
                                  • Smurfette is worth a good number of points for how easy she is to hit.
                                  • You can get bonuses for finishing a round quickly and/or having high accuracy.
                                  • In general if you are struggling to beat a level it is better to hit the Smurfs which are closer to the screen or standing still since it is easier to hit objects which are larger and/or are not moving.
                                    • While Gargamel and Azrael are worth additional points, they are not particularly hard to hit because they are large.
                                    • Smurfette is quite easy to hit and counts as a Smurf hit even after you have used up all the required Smurfette hits.
                                    • The sledding Smurf is relatively difficult to hit.
                                      • Losing
                                        • You lose when the timer runs out and you did not accomplish all the level hit goals.
                                        • Be sure to try to focus on whatever goals you are struggling with first.
                                        • If you lose on a level you can replay it and your score goes back to what it was when you entered the level.
                                          • You can restart a level an unlimited number of times until you beat it.
                                          • You start with the point total you had going into that level when you restart it.
                                          • Your point total which is stored in the record books is your point total achieved on a level you beat, so if you score a lot of points but fail the level then that score is not recorded.
                                          • If you fully restart the game then you start back on level 1.
                                          • Audience
                                            • This game is easy to play for players of all ages. Young children will like it and older kids will find it enjoyable as they get into higher levels which are more challenging.
                                            • There is no adult imagery in the game.
