How to Play

Play Pile of Tiles online for free. Pile of Tiles is a 30-stage timed Mahjong Solitaire game that drops the tiles after clearing your first pair. Work against gravity while you clear pairs of tiles. Remove the entire stack before the level's timer expires. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

On the welcome screen, select Play to begin.
Select Help to learn the game’s rules.
Select High Scores to view the game’s leaderboard.
Use the drop-down list on the bottom left corner of the screen to choose the game’s language.
Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
Game Controls
- Desktop
  - With your mouse, left click to select the stones.
  - Touchscreen devices
    - Tap on the stones with your fingers to select them.
    - Controls and indicators
      - The game’s controls and indicators are located at the right side of the screen. From the top, they are as follows:
        Level number
        Cumulative score
        Timer
        First row, left to right:
        Shuffle button
        Hint button
        Second row, left to right:
        Pause button
        Enlarge button: Lets you switch between windowed and full-screen modes
        Third row, left to right:
        Speaker button: Turns the game’s audio effects on and off
        Music button: Turns the game’s music on and off
        Game Play
        Levels
        You can also end your playthrough. This lets you save your score in the leaderboard.
        Only the first level is playable at the start of the game.
        Finishing one level automatically unlocks the next one.
        There are 30 levels in the game
        If you reload the game, you have 2 options:
        Continue from the last level you’ve unlocked.
        Start a new playthrough. This will erase your previous progress.
        Basic rules
        Select a pair of identical Mahjong stones to remove them from the stack.
        You can only pair free stones.
        Free stones have no stone above them and at least one side (left or right) without an adjacent stone.
        The game helpfully highlights the free stones with a lighter background color, while other stones have a darker grayish background color.
        Unlike other Mahjong solitaire games, the tiles drop.
        They first drop when you first remove the first pair of free stones.
        The stones drop do
        This can complicate matters as some tiles might drop somewhere where they can’t be played.
        Clear the entire stack before the level’s timer expires.
        You start with 1 minute and 6 seconds on the clock on the first level.
        Later levels have a longer time limit and more stones.
        You fail the level if you don’t clear all the stones in time.
        You can try again. This game offers unlimited continues.
        You can also end your playthrough. This lets you save your score in the leaderboard, though erases your game progress.
        Scoring
        Scoring is cumulative in this game. Your score from one level carries over to the next.
        Every pair of tiles you clear adds 50 points to your total score.
        After finishing, you also receive 6 points for every second remaining on the timer.
        There are two ways to save your total score:
        Play through all 30 levels.
        End the playthrough after a game over.
        Assistance
        Hints
        Selecting the hint button will show you any valid pair of tiles.
        Each hint costs 300 points.
        Shuffles
        Shuffles rearrange the stones on the stack. This is useful if you want to make more obvious pairs.
        The game automatically shuffles the tiles if you run out of moves.
        Manual shuffles cost 500 points. Automatic shuffles cost you nothing.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for players who like Mahjong Solitaire tile match games.
        The game has no adult themed content.
